TEFL Accreditation – What It Means and Why It Matters
Not all TEFL certificates are equal. Accreditation is the mechanism that distinguishes a certificate recognised by schools and governments worldwide from one that isn't.
What Accreditation Covers
Curriculum Standards: Language awareness, methodology, skills teaching, classroom management — to a minimum depth
Trainer Qualifications: CELTA or DELTA minimum; 5+ years teaching experience required
Observed Teaching Practice: Minimum 6 hours with real students — non-negotiable for accreditation
Independent Assessment: Coursework marked by qualified assessors, not self-assessed
International Recognition: Linked to an accreditation body that schools and immigration departments can verify
